Tiffanie Barriere and 250 Judges Name 2026 Spirited Awards Nominees

"The magic of cocktail culture has never just lived in what's in the glass, it lives in the people, the stories, and the hospitality that stay with us long after the last sip," said Tiffanie Barriere, U.S. Chair of the Spirited Awards. With that sentence, Barriere put the work back in the hands before the honors. She and a panel of more than 250 industry experts have named the 2026 Top 10 nominees across bartenders, bar teams, menus, spirits, media makers, and drinks leaders moving toward Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans.

Tales of the Cocktail Foundation runs the Spirited Awards. The awards began in 2007 and enter their 20th annual edition in 2026. The judging structure matters at the bench and beyond it: nominations are not based on popular vote, and the expert panel evaluates nominees through committees.

Who the judging panel named first

Before a drink reaches the table, someone has made a chain of decisions: which bottle sits in the well, which acid line holds, which glass gets chilled, which menu language a guest can trust. Barriere's panel placed those decisions across domestic and international categories, from bartender and bar team to writing, media, products, spirits selection, and global menu honors.

The highest global honors in the program include World's Best Cocktail Bar and World's Best Cocktail Menu. That range keeps the rail, the back bar, and the printed page in the same conversation: station craft beside publication language, a menu program beside a new spirit or cocktail ingredient.

The bartenders the panel put forward

U.S. Bartender of the Year, presented by Brown-Forman, begins at the station. The 2026 nominees are Eric Bennett of Continental Drift in Birmingham; Linda Douglas of Donna's in Los Angeles; Andrea Grujic of Sip & Guzzle in New York; Juliette Larrouy of schmuck. in New York; Libby Lingua of Highball in Phoenix; Daddy Long Legs of Hawksmoor in Chicago; Shammai Mading of Superbueno in New York; Steve Schneider of Sip & Guzzle in New York; Takuma Watanabe of Martiny's, L'Americana, and Midnight Blue in New York; and J'Nai Angelle Williams of Chandelier Bar at the Four Seasons in New Orleans.

Larrouy works at schmuck. in New York. Bennett holds the station at Continental Drift in Birmingham, while Douglas works at Donna's in Los Angeles. Grujic and Schneider share the Sip & Guzzle line. Watanabe is named with three New York rooms, and Williams brings New Orleans into the individual bartender category through Chandelier Bar at the Four Seasons.

International Bartender of the Year, also presented by Brown-Forman, widens the station map. The nominees are Giovanni Allario of Moebius Milano in Milan; Hedda Bruce of Tjoget in Stockholm; Giulia Cuccurullo of Artesian at The Langham in London; Elise Hanson of Civil Works in Toronto; Uno Jang of Jigger & Pony Group in Singapore; Rob Libecans of Caretaker's Cottage and Three Horses in Melbourne; Vijay Mudaliar of Native in Singapore; Yayo Nava of Bar Mauro in Mexico City; Alonso Palomino of Lady Bee in Lima; and Jeff Savage of Prophecy Bar in Vancouver.

Allario works in Milan, Bruce in Stockholm, Cuccurullo in London, Hanson in Toronto, Jang in Singapore. Libecans holds two Melbourne stations, Mudaliar works in Singapore, Nava in Mexico City, Palomino in Lima, and Savage in Vancouver. Those cities do not suggest one house style; the panel asked the work to stand beside its peers.

    The teams the panel recognized

A team category studies the room after the first clean cocktail leaves the tin. Best U.S. Bar Team, presented by William Grant & Sons, includes Bar Snack in New York; Cobra in Columbus; Highball in Phoenix; Lady Jane in Denver; Nickel City in Austin; Pacific Cocktail Haven in San Francisco; Service Bar in Washington, D.C.; Sip & Guzzle in New York; Superbueno in New York; and Yacht Club in Denver.

Service depends on more than the person shaking. Someone cuts citrus, resets glassware, reads the floor, protects the build, and catches the station before it slips. The bar-team category recognizes standards held through the second rush, not only the first round.

Best International Bar Team, also presented by William Grant & Sons, includes Bar Leone in Hong Kong; Bar Mauro in Mexico City; Bar Us in Bangkok; BKK Social Club at Four Seasons Bangkok; Caretaker's Cottage in Melbourne; FOCO in Barcelona; Jigger & Pony at the Amara Hotel in Singapore; Moebius Milano in Milan; Paradiso in Barcelona; and Satan's Whiskers in London.

Brand ambassadors sit in the working structure too. Best U.S. Brand Ambassador names Erik Andersson of Hendrick's Gin; Joe Brooke of Fords Gin; Kiowa Bryan of Saint Benevolence; Tad Carducci of Gruppo Montenegro; Benny Hurwitz of Campari American Whiskies; Alexander "Zan" Kong of Worthy Park Estate; Jessi Lorraine of Old Forester; Mary Palac of Campari Mexican Spirits; Cesar Sandoval of Casa Lumbre Spirits; and Erin Schaeferle of Mr Black Coffee Liqueur.

Best International Brand Ambassador names Jenna Ba of Diageo; Claudia Cabrera of Fernet Branca; Jesse Estes of Tequila Ocho; Caitlin Hill of Remy Cointreau; Daniyel Jones of House of Angostura; Brendon Khoo of Monkey Shoulder; Karina Mair of Michter's; Tim Philips-Johansson of Johnnie Walker; Alexandros Sourmpatis of Three Cents; and Charmaine Thio of Hendrick's Gin.

The menu writers, spirits curators, and media makers

World's Best Cocktail Menu, presented by Australian Bitters Co., names Allegory at the Eaton Hotel in Washington, D.C.; ARGO at the Four Seasons in Hong Kong; Bar 1661 in Dublin; Bar Us in Bangkok; BKK Social Club at Four Seasons Bangkok; Danico in Paris; Jigger & Pony at the Amara Hotel in Singapore; Paradiso in Barcelona; Sip & Guzzle in New York; and Tayēr + Elementary in London.

A menu is a bar's method made public. It decides the order of attention: ingredient, origin, format, technique, or house idea. The nominated programs place hotel bars, independent bars, and multi-part bar identities beside one another without pretending they serve from the same blueprint.

World's Best Spirits Selection turns to the bottles within reach. Nominees include Amazonia in Washington, D.C.; Bar 1802 at the Hotel Montecristo in Paris; Barro Negro in Athens; Cat Bite Club in Singapore; Mírate in Los Angeles; Origin Bar at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore; Salón de Agave in Mexico City; Scarfes Bar at the Rosewood Hotel in London; Sexy Fish London; and Tlecān in Mexico City.

Best New Spirit or Cocktail Ingredient brings the shelf into sharper focus: Angel's Envy 10 Cask Strength, Bruichladdich The Laddie Rye 7 Year, Chambéryzette Strawberry Aperitif, Fever-Tree Pineapple Ginger Beer, Giffard Non-Alcoholic Spritz Liqueur, Hendrick's Oasium, Kota Pandan Liqueur, Mijenta Tequila Maestra Selection No. 2, Saint Benevolence Mango, and Worthy Park Skurnik Selection Cane Juice Rum.

The media categories keep the craft's language in view. Best Cocktail & Spirits Publication names Coqtail, for fine drinkers. Best Broadcast, Podcast, or Online Video Series names Ask the Expert by Camille Vidal and Cocktail Time with Kevin Kos. Best Cocktail & Spirits Writing includes two pieces by Rich Manning for VinePair, alongside work by Emma Janzen for Punch, Ximena N. Beltran Quan Kiu for Punch, Esther Tseng for Bon Appetit, M. Carrie Allan for The Washington Post, Adam Reiner for The Guardian, Robert Simonson for VinePair, Noah Rothbaum for Bartender Magazine, and Yolanda Evans for InsideHook.

Books carry a slower kind of instruction.

Best New Cocktail or Bartending Book includes APERITIVO by Italia Squisita, HYPER drinks by Angelos Bafas, Make Myna Double: Cocktails for Bird Lovers by Katie Stryjewski, Soju Party: How to Drink (and Eat!) Like a Korean by Irene Yoo, SOURS: A History of the World's Most Storied Cocktail Style by Philip Greene, Spirited Women: Makers, Shakers, and Trailblazers in the World of Cocktails by Sammi Katz and Olivia McGiff, TEQUILA, MEZCAL & MORE Discover, Sip & Mix the Best Agave Spirits by Anna Bruce, The Madrusan Cocktail Companion by Michael Madrusan and Zara Madrusan, Three Cheers: Cocktails Three Ways by Kaitlyn Stewart, and Tiny Cocktails: The Art of Miniature Mixology: A Cocktail Recipe Book by Tyler Zielinski.

Where Barriere's panel sends the nominees next

The calendar now has its cuts. Top 4 finalists, along with the Helen David Lifetime Achievement Award, Tales Visionary Award, International Timeless Award, and U.S. Timeless Award, will be named on June 8 and 9, 2026. Winners will be celebrated on July 23, 2026, at the 20th Annual Spirited Awards Ceremony at the Fillmore New Orleans.

Tales of the Cocktail returns to New Orleans in the conference's 24th year with the 2026 theme "Spark." The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans, is the official host hotel, with a room block and special rate for attendees; reservations are first come, first served, and the last day to book is June 22, 2026.

New Orleans also appears inside the domestic categories. Carousel Bar & Lounge at Hotel Monteleone, Chandelier Bar at the Four Seasons New Orleans, The Sazerac Bar at The Roosevelt New Orleans, Arnaud's French 75 Bar, Hungry Eyes, and Junebug are among the city's nominees.

Who to watch before the final honors

Study the places where the same operation shows more than one kind of strength. A bartender nomination points to individual command; a team nomination tests repeatable service; a menu nomination asks whether the bar can write its method clearly enough for a guest to follow.

The same holds for the bottles, books, broadcasts, and essays. Cocktail culture does not move only through a finished drink. It moves through training, distribution, advocacy, criticism, and the language bartenders use when they explain why one spec matters more than another.

Barriere and the 250-expert panel have now named the rooms, makers, and media to study before New Orleans. The next movement belongs to the finalists, the winners, and the teams who return from Tales of the Cocktail to their stations and keep working.
